# Third-Party Data Notices — Halo Learning v1.0.33 Reviewed App

Halo Learning bundles verified lexical projections derived from Princeton WordNet 3.0 and CC-CEDICT so English and Traditional-Chinese lookup can run locally and offline. Generated shard records retain dataset references and provenance. No dictionary API is required at runtime. The full dictionary bytes retain their v0.7.1 dataset identities in this reviewed App.

## Reviewed hint and companion subsets

The App high-frequency overlay and Chrome companion subset use pinned ECDICT `frq`/`bnc` fields for deterministic selection and the verified direct dictionary for Taiwan Traditional translations. They retain ECDICT MIT and bundled OpenCC conversion notices. Exact identity, algorithm and row counts are in the subset metadata; see `docs/data-sources/HIGH_FREQUENCY_SUBSET.md`. The incoming external frequency-list dependency is removed from the current runtime and generators.

Attribution: this product contains data from CC-CEDICT, published by MDBG and maintained by the CC-CEDICT community. Halo Learning converts that source into a compact sharded lexical projection. The adaptation is redistributed under CC BY-SA 4.0 with attribution, license link, and modification/provenance information retained in the manifest/canonical source.

## Packaged lexical projection

The App package contains generated runtime data under `www/data/lexical-v0.4.0/`, including manifest/build/data provenance and 128 verified shard files. The large upstream corpus sources remain in the canonical source repository rather than being duplicated in this App package.

## v0.7 reverse bilingual candidate index

Halo additionally derives `www/data/bilingual-v0.7.0/` from the packaged CC-CEDICT projection. The index tokenizes/filter-ranks English gloss segments and maps them back to Traditional-Chinese CC-CEDICT entries. It remains an adaptation of CC-CEDICT and subject to CC BY-SA 4.0 obligations.

The product labels these results as **Chinese correspondence candidates** rather than claiming an authoritative direct English→Chinese dictionary.

## ECDICT — direct English→Chinese build source

Halo v0.7.1 pins ECDICT commit `bc015ed2e24a7abef49fc6dbbb7fe32c1dadaf8b`, path `ecdict.csv`, Git blob SHA-1 `c4ade63ea08cf39d9c3475e96929036d64d94c94`. ECDICT is MIT licensed; the full pinned license notice is bundled as `licenses/ECDICT-LICENSE.txt`.

The original source-ready artifact did not bundle ECDICT rows. In the integrated data-ready package, the pinned source was downloaded and identity-verified, then its Chinese translation field was converted at build time to `zh-Hant-TW`. The raw `sources/` directory is excluded from release packaging; generated direct shards retain source and converter provenance.

## opencc-js — build-only Taiwan Traditional conversion

Halo's local direct-dictionary build pins `opencc-js@1.4.2` and uses `Converter({ from: 'cn', to: 'twp' })`. It is a **build-only** dependency: `node_modules` is excluded from the Halo release package, and the application runtime does not require OpenCC. The generated manifest records converter id/version/mode. `opencc-js` declares `MIT AND Apache-2.0`; its MIT, Apache-2.0, and third-party notices are included under `licenses/opencc-js/` for the generated data derivatives.

## Direct / fallback product labels

- ECDICT after the recorded Taiwan-Traditional build step: `繁中翻譯` / direct.
- CC-CEDICT reverse index: `中文對應` / correspondence fallback.
- WordNet: `英文釋義` / English definition.

These labels are intentionally distinct.
